Smash Steak Burgers with Bacon, Grilled Onions, and Provolone

These Smash Steak Burgers are a treat that tastes great and is high in fat. A simple burger is taken to a whole new level when crispy bacon, sweet grilled onions, and melty provolone cheese are added to it. Great for your next barbecue or dinner during the week.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef 80% lean
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for cooking
  • Ketchup and mustard, for serving

Instructions:

Set a griddle or big skillet on high heat to get it ready

Make 4 balls out of the ground beef that are all the same size

Squash the beef balls flat with a spatula as soon as you put them on the hot griddle

Add pepper and salt

It should take about two to three minutes to cook until the edges are brown and crispy

For medium-rare, flip the burgers over and cook for another minute or two, or longer if you want

Make the bacon crispy in a separate pan while the burgers are cooking

Take it off and let it dry on paper towels

Put the thinly sliced onions in the same pan with the bacon fat

For about 10 to 15 minutes, over medium heat, cook until the sugar turns into caramel

Add pepper and salt

Put a slice of provolone cheese on each burger to melt in the last minute of cooking

On the griddle, toast the hamburger buns until they are just barely golden

Put together the burgers by putting a patty with provolone on the bottom bun, then bacon and caramelized onions on top of that

If you want, you can add ketchup and mustard to the top bun before putting it on top of the other ingredients

Good luck with your Smash Steak Burgers with Bacon, Grilled Onions, and Provolone! We hope you enjoy them!
